“The Universal Language”
My love for music started in my younger years. As I began my music journey in band, I realized I was learning to read another language...music.
It's true! Music is the universal language, a language that allows the musician to express his or her thoughts or feelings. For example, I once sat in an orchestra trumpet section, and two players were Russian, whereas I am American. They were not fluent in English, but we all knew by reading the music together, we could "talk." Just as an avid reader enjoys a good book for its benefits and escape, reading music does the same for me. It's calming and peaceful but also complicated. A musician must count and listen, reading the music fast or slow, all at the same time.
There is a joy in sitting with a band or orchestra and reading the music along with other musicians from start to "finé." We are there to obtain one common goal: expression.
